I recently purchased a couple of cars form my Santa Fe engine. And I decided to install lights in the end car. To power the lights I ran a wire from the egine. (...) Martin, Thanks, I've tested the mods on a couple of different track layouts, and they seem to work well enough. Although there is a bit of flicker for the power pickup. I'm hoping the solid wheels take care of this. Yes I hope to offer these (...) (20 years ago, 7-Oct-04, to lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.trains)

This looks a great idea and much simpler than making new metal flanges (as in the 9v motor) I don't actually run my stuff very much/far to I think it would be hardwearing enough for my purposes although I would imagine the 'round the flange' (...) (...) Not sure, but you can purchase the copper tape untinned as well. (...) I'd thought of this. Scince I already plan to make solid metal wheels, I was thinking of drilling the center wheel larger on one side, and using an insulating insert. And (...) (...) The patina is an acid of sorts that reacts with the copper. Not sure of the end result would be to conductivity. I imagine it would be reduced some but not totally impeded. Mike (20 years ago, 8-Oct-04, to lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.trains)
