Thanks for the kind words!
I must admit that I only used the blue because I didn't have enough white.
And I only used the white because I didn't have enough grey. But I re-worked
the upper floors a couple times trying to avoid that "I ran out of grey
bricks" look. (Q: Did I succeed???)
I have since purchased a lot more grey brick, but decided against rebuilding
everything in monochrome -- I kind of like the white marble look now. And
according to another thread here in .Castle, not all castles have to be grey,
anyway.
I'm actually planning to eliminate the large window in the back. I know that
the ballroom of the castle in Disney's Beauty and the Beast has a large glass
wall, but I think it's a bit anachronistic. But I was getting tired and lazy
one night, so I took the easy way out on that entryway...
Using the mirror as the backdrop was actually my cousin Kim's idea, but I plan
to use the effect a lot in the future. Besides giving a free look at the back
of the structure, it makes it easier to hide all the clutter that I usually
have lying around my house.
p.s. I don't know much French, either, but I believe it is spelled "tres
chic", FYI. (Or is that "Grey chic?") Funny that you should resort to
French, since I kinda modeled this castle after a few French and Canadian
chateaus that I've visited or seen pictures of. Those "coffee table" books
are great for stealing architectural ideas from!
