Scott is having trouble posting again, so I am posting this for him.

-----------------------------------------------
To All,

NOTE:
I am having trouble getting to post to LUGNET again, I don't want to waste
time on it at the moment, can someone post it there for me?

MichLUG had another fun meeting on Saturday, February 9th, 2002, at Steve
Ringe?s house, located in Westland. It was a pretty comprehensive meeting,
with a lot of stuff decided and the like.

Here are the pics:

Here is the list of attendees:

Steve Ringe
Lester Witter
Chris Leach?
Amy Hughes
Garry and Susan Stahl
David Kohrman
Rick Hallman
Scott Sanburn
Jason Spears
Steve (I forgot your last name, my apologies)
Trevor Pruden

The meeting started at 1:00PM, Jason Spears and I decided to carpool from
the other side of the state, to save resources for more LEGO items. : ) My
lovely and gracious wife Lynn came with us, so she drove to Flint. I don?t
think she would ever stay.

We got there around 1:30PM, and most of the people were outside working on
the table we were thinking about using for future events. People came in
after as well.

We got the preliminary table ready to assemble, and we headed downstairs to
put it together.

We had some snacks brought to us, thanks for the Krispy Kreme doughnuts,
Garry & Susan! : ) Umm.. donuts?.  We assembled the tables and talked about
everything, from Star trek to other LEGO concerns, and tested the table. I
even sat on it, and it is still together, so it is sturdy!

We also gawked at Steve?s collection again, and saw his progress on his
switchyard, and his awesome Mindstorms controlled line, which will work
great in the next show. He also gave me some tips on how his modules worked,
his switches, and the controllers, and how he tied them together, so I can
do something similar when I start on my layout.

EVENTS:

1) Tables - We agreed on the tables that were constructed, for 29.00, you
can get a 30?x60? and a 30?x30? table, so that is a great thing. We will
have some building weekend, where we hope to build all of them at once. We
will need to discuss this further.
2) Webpage - It was decided that Jason Spears will take over admin duties
for the website, thank you Amy for all the work you have done. Feel free to
contribute things as time goes on, extra help is always appreciated.
3) GATS / Brickfest - It was decided if we had the choice between the two,
if they are on the same weekend, or they are two weekends in a row, we would
go to Brickfest instead. That depends on a lot of things as well, we need to
get the exact date of Brickfest first. We also decided some other issues on
our participation and GATS, which don?t need to be put here.
4) We started discussing some other items for the next show. I suggested
having some kind of permanent water for each display, somewhere. I think the
beach in Novi from last year was a big hit. Maybe a rotating winter / summer
for each show highlighting some of Michigan?s activities would be good.
5) I showed my plans for my own train yard with the station and passenger
lines. It will be changed for the table size, etc.

MOC?s:

1) David Kohrman brought his hotel, and his Hall of Music, which is
beautiful. He has a great gasp of building?buildings. : )
2) Trevor Pruden brought some of his creations, his M-Tron ship, a civilian
taker, and a TDF ship (Sorry, Trevor, I forgot what it is named)
3) Rick Hallman brought a few small creations, which were very
play-friendly.
4) Steve Ringe?s trolley line - Mindstorms controlled stop / start / reverse
polarity - simply awesome

ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION:

1) Table Storage - We will need a climate-controlled area to store tables
that other people can?t store themselves, as well as a good means to
transport them. Kai, you said you could do it. Can you, or do we need to
find something else?
2) Next layout - ideas, thoughts, plans, creations?
3) Brickfest / GATS - What we want to do, carpool, hotels, etc.

I also want to welcome our new members, Steve and David Kohrman. Thanks for
participating, gentlemen, we look forward to seeing you more in the future.
: )

I am excited to see our group developing more, and seeing more people join.
We can only do better with more help and new ideas.

I am looking forward to our next meeting on March 2nd!

Scott S.
