I can also offer the finished basement of my family house, which could
probably handle a meeting for about 8 people or so comfortably (less if they
are all into trains :-), with a max of about 13. As far as that goes, I'm
in central NJ, about 1 hour to 1:15 from Philly and 45 minutes - 1:20 from
Manhattan, depending on traffic, with lots of highway access. We have a
housecat who would rather be put down than have any contact whatsoever with
strangers, but a major caveat is our (friendly, non-dangerous) 50-lb
*long-haired* housedog who follows me around everywhere I go--I could always
lock him up for a few hours, though it would probably damage our
relationship for awhile, and that wouldn't get rid of the pet dander.
Anyway, I am very willing to travel and will still be in the NJ area at
least through the end of the year. AFAIK, I can make any of the dates in
the next couple months that people mentioned and should have my own vehicle
in a few days so travel will not be a problem for me. As for content of the
next meeting, I enjoyed meeting everyone for the first but because I had to
leave early, I didn't feel like I accomplished much besides having a bit of
fun. Fun is important and I personally hope will be the main goal of this
LUG, but I would like to have more than just casual get-togethers at the
meetings--the 2 can be combined, Shirley? Perhaps we could focus the
meeting and speed up discussion of organizational matters by thinking of the
content of a website for GardenSLUG (I think LJ volunteered her husband to
write one up, anyway...?). Then we would need to think a bit more about
content without having to have a real "formal" business meeting (which would
be pretty boring IMO) since brainstorming and playing with our bricks can be
done simultaneously, kind of how the last meeting naturally evolved, just a
bit too slowly for me to take advantage--it sounds like a lot more was done
after I left (which I'll try not to take personally :-p). One specific
thing for the next meeting I'd really be interested in discussing is coming
up with a mechanism for trades and services of that nature for the future.

| Hi Bianca, I doubt that I would have any problem with a dog wandering during our meeting, as long as he was reasonably well-behaved, and didn't enjoy eating Lego. I have a 110 pound dog myself, and enjoy having dogs around quite a bit. Other people (...) (24 years ago, 31-Jul-00, to lugnet.org.us.gardenslug)
