Sheesh! Just reading that thread makes me queasy. So much
bureacracy, needless sniping about trademarking, little empire
building ... brother. Why do people always feel compelled to do that?
I see it in other clubs I'm a part of. People quickly lose focus on
the things that brought them together. Then when all these
individuals have finally found each other, they promptly set about
finding things that can keep them separate! Human nature I guess.
LTCs, LUGs, TM, SM, Brickfest West ... Who cares! What do have in
common? We're a bunch of overgrown kids that get our kicks out of
building stuff with Lego bricks! Nothing more, nothing less! That's
the thing that binds us. Let's celebrate it, instead of trying to
dissect it, put it into neat little boxes, and then try to say that my
little piece is much better than your little piece. How petty.
I do think we should have some sort of get together on the west coast,
but hopefully do it without the craziness so graphically illustrated
by this thread.
Stay (and play) loose everyone,
Robin
Vancouver Lego Club
P.S. I'm a little happier today that our club's name isn't an "LTC"
or a "LUG". We are what we are, and that's what we are.
