  train4 Video

I put together a short clip of some of the trains running around the train4 layout: (URL) mostly just trains driving around-the onboard footage was REALLY jerky. (ie, jerky enough to cause data errors on the tape-probably due to vibration from the (...) (21 years ago, 20-Jan-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Wow, Calum! We *were* only kidding when we said you had to be done before Monday. Tuesday would have been fine... I especially like the closing shot from inside your station. When we set the layout up again, we need to have some photo op time with (...) (21 years ago, 20-Jan-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) I got to see a portion of it...like the first 3/8ths of it before my explorer window (crappy XP) started going funny. From what I seen of it, it was quite excellent despite not getting the camera mounted on a camera car, nor taking a lot of (...) (21 years ago, 20-Jan-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) It's a CG crane. It was all done in post. :-) Derek (21 years ago, 20-Jan-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) I SO want to see that video (I'm at work where mpeg's are blocked..) Oh well I only have 3 hours left at work! As for the crane, Yes magnets were used to pick up the containers. It worked quite well, when it worked. Only twice did it drop it (...) (21 years ago, 20-Jan-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: train4 Video

(...) Yup. We mounted a single magnet inside the container at the top, and place 1x4 tiles above it. The crane utilized a second magnet, and the lift cables were actually a loop of chainlink belts. If both sides of the chain were driven (...) (21 years ago, 20-Jan-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Thanks, that helps a lot! Cool mechanism. (...) It's prototypical to have a cable driven thingie to shift cars around a bit on a siding so if these cars are just for show, that would work. (Count rotations?) Put the siding on a slant so the (...) (21 years ago, 20-Jan-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
