Has anyone noticed the Brick Counter on the S@H site?  It's real-time,
and indicates how many bricks they've sold this month.  47 million+, in
case you're interested.

I've been watching this thing all week.  Back on Monday night I mentioned it
in another thread and it was only at about 42,000,000.

If you watch it over time I belive you'll find that it increases by an
average of 130,000 bricks per hour during business hours and about 70,000
per hour during the night (based on EST).

That's from "LEGOshop.com" - not sure if they include the phone service
under that umbrella.  But considering how hard it is to get sales
numbers from Lego, it's an interesting stat.

It's very interesting.  I think it's even more amazing that this figure (by
their own account) does not include pieces that are parts of sets.  So is
this figure purely bulk bricks?  That represents only one menu off their
products list on the sidebar of the site.  How much other stuff is going off
the shipping docks if that's the #'s for bulk bricks.  Wow.

Perhaps $5M in sales this
month from the web site?

Based on an average of about 10 cents U.S. per brick?  I'd guess that would
be a fair number.

That's pretty brisk.

I'd say.  Years ago I worked in a 5,000 square foot store.  When the store
first opened it was doing about $5,000,000 (CDN) a YEAR!  And that was
considered good money back then.

So here's a 'store' that's open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and they're
able to do in 3 weeks what it used to take our store 365 days to do.  I
really, sincerely, honestly and from my heart hope that this means that bulk
bricks are doing booming business and that we'll see the selection expanded
and the price drop (even a bit..... please???)

All the best,
Allan B.

(...) I think the clarifying statement that Lego has made about this number is actually confusing the issue. "Pieces sold on LEGOshop.com since Nov. 1, 2002!" "Piece count reflects individual pieces sold and not complete sets" I took this to mean (...) (22 years ago, 29-Nov-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
