So, I was talking to a friend about careers tonight-basically catching up on
who went where after graduating from university-and we ended up on the topic
of going Stateside to work because she'd gone to Philadelphia to work. We
had the usual conversation about how American rent, housing, food and cost
of living is generally higher. (Not to mention Dave, cost of education,
violent crime, cost of healthcare, but I digress) I pointed out Lego was
more expensive. I even went so far as to say Lego was by far the cheapest
in Canada than in the whole world.
Problem is, does anyone know if this is the truth? I know that Canadian
regular prices are cheaper than Denmark, the UK, Australia, USA and Germany.
Our sale prices are probably even better.
For example, the regular and sales prices (regular sales, not like stupid
store clearing out, tornado hit the mall and roof collapsed type sales) from
national chains (TRU, Zellers) for two regularly found items:
628 Baseplate
Canada: $11.99 CAD Regular, $8.99 Sale = $7.61 USD/5.70 USD
US: $11USD MSRP (via Lugnet)
4107 Strata Tub
Canada: $29.99 CAD Regular, $19.97 Sale = $19.03 USD/12.67 USD
US: $20USD MSRP
