We had a nice turn out of people with robots and "almost" robots. (its
ok Greg, it was a nice try you too Jeff W)

We even had Calum show up with ..... NOTHING.

And we had a few loyal audience members.

On an up side THAT PUNK KID did not dare show his pustule ridden face to
say those words "... Hey Mister:"

As a VERY special treat Steve H, Heather (his wife) and Kurt (Steves
very tiny and VERY CUTE 7 week old baby)  made the long journey to play
lego with the rest of us.

As always a BIG thank you  should go to the NLSO's of the group who let
"us" build robots and took time away from them.   Sadly for the NLSO's
we have nailed down a NEW game for the March 15 2003

the as yet unnamed game (probably something like "Last Bot Standing")
is simple in concept, but fun in the implementing.

1.Start with our normal 8' x 8' play field, (the one with a 6" border)
and in the centre of the field screw down  a 2' x 2' x  6" high box.

2. build a robot that is no bigger than 12" cubed

3. your robot starts in one corner of a play field and at the start  of
a 3 minute match, must climb to the top of the centre box; pretty
simple..... oh, I for got to mention up to 3 other robot will also try
for the same thing, and will be allowed (or encouraged) to WHACK you off
the box. The winner will be the last bot standing on the box.

We have worked out  some other details about scoring and such but they
will follow later.

This game was chooses for the fact that the library will be sponsoring
this event for us ergo we get the space for free and in return they will
publish our event in some of their publications for events for march
break for kids..... if we are going to have SO MANY kids then it would
be fair to have a quasi smash and grab type game.  This game was a fair
compromise. and is final.

If you feel you need to be heard about the game decisions then come to
the dinners.

Again, a good day and a fine time.  heck my battery box robot even
"scored" 2 points.  Ask Rob, he'll tell you all about it.  ;)

(...) Well Calum was acting in his capacity as "game official" and was busy using his "project management skills" elsewhere. (...) Yeah, but I think the rest of us, especially Bruce, had fun saying it. (...) Yeah that was very cool to show up 2 (...) (22 years ago, 10-Nov-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
