I just uploaded pictures of an Imperial Shuttle I build about 2 years
ago.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=7864

This was a fun one to build.  It had landing gear that would raise and
lower by the 24t gear on the back.  The wings could be raised or lowered
manually.

It was a little delicate though, and one day I was showing it off to
friends, and while lower the wings I dropped it.  It cam down hard on
the corner of a coffee table and burst into hundreds of pieces.  I
managed to get it back together, but its funny how you always have
pieces left over after something like that.

If you look closely you will see a 5x6 grey plate on the bottom.  This
is a cut plate.  I did not cut it, I've had it since I was a kid.  I
think it came in some garage sale lego my parents found.  Anyway it
happened to fit well where it is placed and was really needed for
strength.

Although I don't advocate cutting lego, it does come in handy some
times.  Provided someone else did it. :-)

(...) I think that is cool that you came up with something great before Lego did... It looks a lot better than the one Lego put out.... and a side note: its amazing what kind of parts you can come up with for a certain design concept.... nice (...)
