  Re: Obvious Chinese Rip-off

(...) Fair enough. I never saw the Maersk set (Dark Ages were most of the 90's). The question that comes to my mind though is why would they rip-off a set that is so old? And how lazy do you have to be to not even take a new picture? It's not like (...) (17 years ago, 7-Feb-08, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)

  Re: Obvious Chinese Rip-off

(...) The Chinese have been doing this for a long time now. I remember seeing sets on ebay from 1999. I believe that they were Castle and City sets. Exactly like the Lego models they copied. I don't think that there is much that Lego can do about (...) (17 years ago, 7-Feb-08, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Obvious Chinese Rip-off

(...) I think that Todd is referring to how the set is a knock-off of the Maersk-branded tractor-trailer set that LEGO offered in the 90s. Comparing the picture of the Chinese set, it's clear that they've even ripped off the LEGO box art. Compare (...) (17 years ago, 7-Feb-08, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)

  Re: Obvious Chinese Rip-off

(...) Uhm, not really since its not a rip-off. It's not a copy of an existing set AFAIK. Why get worked up about a clone brand in an auction that says it fits with LEGO? Nothing factually inaccurate nor is there any breach of copyright or trademark (...) (17 years ago, 7-Feb-08, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Obvious Chinese Rip-off

LEGO Fans BE OUTRAGED, Take a look at this eBay auction: (URL) rip offs like this P*SS you off! No wonder LEGO bricks are growing in price. LEGO Company must employ a building full of lawyers going after crap like this. Todd (17 years ago, 7-Feb-08, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

A very large estate brick collection

Posting in Marketplace 'cause it really is selling bricks, but this is a complete 'not for profit' by me--I'm just trying to help someone. - - - I was recently put in contact with a Diane who lives in the Greater Toronto Area.   Re: Walmart no longer selling LEGO

(...) Jude, thank you for this link. It is sad to lose a supplier, but we still have Zellers, and they often have the Buy One, Get One at half price. Maybe with a shift to Zellers, the Zellers buyers might see more "demand" and carry a larger (...) (17 years ago, 7-Feb-08, to lugnet.loc.ca, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)

dinner, meals, and POSTING via NNTP

Anyone know when the next "World Famous" RTL dinner is? Anyone know when we might get to challenge our RCXen to a new game with cans? anyone? Anyone else know why over the course of 36 hours, I've re-sent this same message 4 time to RTL via NNTP (...) (17 years ago, 7-Feb-08, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: What would happen to your collection....

What a fantastic idea! Maybe not a formal charity to start with but a group of people that volunteer to do things like run benefit auctions or "vendor" tables at brick events with the proceeds donated to a stated charity. It could start out as a (...) (17 years ago, 31-Jan-08, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.general)

Re: What would happen to your collection....

(...) Hi Dave: Sorry to hear of your friend's passing. This very subject has crossed my mind a few times. As you say, with our AFOL community aging, it will eventually become a very relevant topic.   Re: What would happen to your collection....

(...) Actually We did up a will where my wife and I leave everything to our grandchild if we should go soon. My sister in law is our exectoress and I have left her $10,000 plus 10% to sell it on ebay and the proceeds goes to the granddaughter. If I (...)   Re: What would happen to your collection....

(...) Stacy and I have thought about this quite a bit as our collection continues to grow and grow. We don't plan to have any children so that's not really an option. In all likelihood, we will end up donating it somewhere. Be it a museum, school, (...) (17 years ago, 30-Jan-08, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.general)

Re: What would happen to your collection....

(...) When I have kids, Im sure that'll make this issue go away--the kids'll get the collection. My friend is quite specific--she wants the collection to go to people who will appreciate it.
