I think I need to know a little more about what you are doing to know
how to run the track for John's bridge.
Then again, I guess it doesn't matter. If you can configure the
track work so it can work as a closed loop on our layout, then can be
easily converted to open up to John's bridge and the other layout, I
say go for it. I doesn't need to use switches. We just need to be
able to lay the track one way or the other.
If it's not going to compromise your vision for your area too much,
then I think it's a good idea.
