-My friend Sophie who works at Canada's Wonderland is also an artist, and
for her school project she has decided to do it on Art + Robotics! So she's
asked me to help her build a painting robot of some sort, cool! We're going
to make a LEGO robot that will paint a replica of Cy Twombly's "Leda and the
Swan"*.
* - Not really. But probably something more along the line of gentle
accurate brushstrokes, like FESTO's caligraphy robot, made with SPC-200 and
HMP linear modules (I can't remember off the top of my head how they put a
displacement encoder on typ HMP because its not a standard option).
-I'm taking courses this week at ABB in Brampton to program 6-axis
articulateds! The IRB 140 is soooooooooooooo cute! I'm going to go up to
one and give it a hug today. Yesterday we made our robots draw different
shapes based on inputs coming from the input card. I threw together a delta
really quick late last week when I found out I'd get to take the course and
I'm going to take it in at the end of the week to show the teacher. I asked
if they had a FlexPicker at their facility and he said no but the head
programmer in all of North America who does the FlexPicker is in that
facility. So maybe I will get to meet him! The programming language is so
similar to NQC. Thanks LEGO! Without that background I'd be clueless.

| (...) This sounds like so much fun. Not only do you get to play with Lego, but you get to be the knight in shining armour too! (...) *Jealous* (...) Well, I could do that every day at work if I wanted to, but I'm sure I would get some wierd looks :) (...) (20 years ago, 16-Sep-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
