Lest DaveK be the only person who actually posts creations here...

I spent a good part of the weekend building my east module which interfaces with
Jeremy. (I should have been working on my literature review for my
thesis/reading course.) This is no big deal to the other LTCs who do stuff like
this all the time, but it was new to me:
-Building terrain is very difficult. It's hard to make it look organic. It's
also hard to judge where you need to place things. I used a number of green
10xwhatever brick-plates, but it's tough to know how much distance you need to
space to gain the height required in sloping.
-Underneath is a large infrastructure of multicoloured bricks. I chose to use a
lattice of 2x wide bricks, which is very heavy.
-I've never really used green before for any construction. I kept it all in a
bin marked "Evil Carcinogenic Green" for all these years.
-I spent a lot of time making sure I minimized the use of green and tan, but
didn't let any contrasting colours seep out, at least until the very end when I
ran out of white and black. While I wouldn't go so far as JeffE with double
depth to seal joints of green, I did use the trick Jeremy and Derek mentioned of
using black or blue on green, and yellow or white on tan.
-I've left a number spacers and identations in the hillside for future
buildings.
Anyways, there's at least another weekend of building in this module, but for
now, at least I got a chunk of work done on it. (Instead of doing the work I
NEEDED to do)

I have this auditing doc due on the 30th and I spent my weekend revamping my (...) (21 years ago, 26-Apr-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
