Re: Not inspired by any posting in o.t.fun

(...) Umm... because *every* NXT can be equiped with a rechargable battery pack that works like a power port on the 1.0 RCX? So you run a power cable up Spike's... um... abdomen. And if the kid tears Spike apart, just make sure there's a camera (...) (18 years ago, 23-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) I have a lot of stuff on my desk which will eventually get tranfered over to my condo. smart fortwo coupé and crossblade, Briareos fig. from Appleseed, 1:200 scale Airbus A380, ABB IRB 7600, and a 1:87 Vestas V80 turbine. People here know not (...) (18 years ago, 22-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)

Re: Not inspired by any posting in o.t.fun

(...) ya, tel me again how the NXT is beter than a RCX with built in power port? Chris (18 years ago, 22-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Not inspired by any posting in o.t.fun

(...) This would not have the desired effect, even if Dave did borrow Chris' NXT. Dave would still know when a kid had been present, because the batteries in the NXT would be dead. Steve (18 years ago, 22-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Not inspired by any posting in o.t.fun

(...) Step 1 - warn co-worker that it would be nice if said kid keeps paws off. Step 2 - set up a NXT with US sensor to watch for an inturder, turning on a small concealed camera to get the evidence if needed. And if that doesn't work... Step 3 - (...) (...) That's the cutest little wedding bonboniere I've ever seen. (...) Unfortunately desks aren't really considered private spaces...and for that matter Lego is considered by people as a toy, not as a something important. Like, if you had a picture (...)   Not inspired by any posting in o.t.fun

So I was at a wedding a while back. The wedding favour to the people assembled to join in the celebration of the couple was a LEGO set. It was a specific set designed by the bride and groom, consisting of 2 2x8 bricks with the names of the couple (...) (18 years ago, 22-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: NXT software -- my view

(...) Hey - I'm not saying no-one uses basic. I even use visual basic for building front ends, and GWBasic for my parallel port control projects...(so simple a 10 year old can do it :) I'm just saying that if you bite the bullet and actually TRY to (...)   Re: NXT software -- my view

(...) (URL) right. Basic is stupid. NO ONE uses basic. its a DUMB language that NO ONE in the YEAR 2007 USE's NOPE.. no one. (sigh) (...) I will have to see this NBC again. maybe I need to TRY once again to attempt this C thing. I with there was a C (...) (18 years ago, 22-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: NXT software -- my view

(...) I understand where Chris is coming from....generally Chris doesn't bother spelling or using punctuation. So how can you expect him to type function names, use curly braces and end every function call with a semicolon? Calum (18 years ago, 22-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: NXT software -- my view

(...) c'mon Chris - stop crying for a 1963 language and move to a more modern 1972 language (or at least a reasonable facsimile of it) (URL) is a simple sample to drive forward then back. IF you can use mindscript this syntax should be manageable: (...) (18 years ago, 22-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: NXT software -- my view

(...) the last software for the RCX was the LEGO SDK 2.5. it had a nice MINDSCRIPT software that was neiter BASIC, not C. SOMEONE at lego seemed to thing there was a need for it. so why not for the NXT? Chris basic? basic? buller? (18 years ago, 20-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: NXT software -- my view

(...) DAVE!! save your $$ the NXT just aint all its cracked up to be. $0.02 and a PERSOANL opinion. I mean its ok. im not tossing mine in the garbage. but... well, I've yet to make a WORKING robot.   Re: We may have to come up with somethign bigger...

(...) That was pretty much the exact idea that I presented to Kjeld when I went on the Inside Tour. As Calum said though, reliability would be the downfall-as well as speed. Its too bad bricks are not magnetic, then could use a magnetic crane. I was (...) (18 years ago, 20-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: We may have to come up with somethign bigger...

(...) While I'm not part of the rtltoronto clan, from the things I've seen you guys do, there is a lot of talent up there. If you want a suggestion for a 'project', how about the following: A pick and place system that can pull any variety of bricks (...) (18 years ago, 19-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: We may have to come up with somethign bigger...

(...) Yes, this is correct. The slowest station on the line will be the limiting factor in the production rate. That said, I don't think we need to "one up" anything, this is purely for fun. We've never done a large group collaborative project other (...) (18 years ago, 19-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)

  Re: Proposed Assembly Line Project

(...) That's what I figured. Not having any of these motors, I cobbled it in LDRAW, and the clips in the model are too low. I figure I'll just make a dolly the same size from bricks and the old train wheels (with the metal axle from the 4.5V days) (...) (18 years ago, 19-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
