James, in short back to the drawing board!
Mountain on 30.5x61 inch table, in the corner, with two 9V tracks at ground
level.  Not sure if only 1 or two loops of 12V above this, will depend on
experimentation.  If John is able, a rackrailway a la
http://home.t-online.de/home/HeinerBerg/zahne.htm will be added on one side
of the mountain.
No elevation of the train track (except for 12V in mountain), unless a brick
or two, to simulate going over a creek.
No table behind the 61 inch bridge, which will be double tracked with
monorail above.  We will use a length of painted 1x4 along the inside edge
to keep the tables apart.
Monorail only along 50% of circumference.
Prefer the traditional donut type layout, without the tables jutting out
everywhere.
LARGE area for a switching yard, place container yard there if necessary,on
double wide tables.
Room for extra "dock" plates between tracks at the train station.
Forget the oblique tracks.
Don't take up too much room connecting the inner and outer tracks.
Two independent but connected loops.
Leave space for town.
Ideally NO sidings in the corners.
Use all the tables currently available.  (6 large, including turntable
table, and 6 small including port and grain elevator tables)  Yes, I had
missed a table in the last layout, I could have added another 30.5x30.5 inch
table!  If anyone wants to try changing that one to fit these guidelines, go
ahead!
Main loops use the straight portion of the switches.
If can fit a cross over track, it would be nice, to lengthen a loop.

Please correct me if I forgot anything important!
I'll try to get something drawn up before I make it to the city next
weekend.

Michel

Well, I have an inherent dislike of starting over, so I played around with the things I was doing yesterday, keeping those criteria in mind, and came up with this: (URL) think it qualifies for most of those. :) Only problem - it (...)
