I will send you our information package as soon as it's finished, we would
like to have a group here, because 1, it's a normal LUG, and 2, we think • that
kids are just as capable as useing Lugnet as any other person. Aaron

I would agree that kids are just as capable of using Lugnet as any other
person (in
fact, you ARE using lugnet).

The point I (and Larry, and Todd) am trying to make is that it is unclear
how your intentions
for KIDLUG (in particular, the lugnet.kidlug group you are asking for)
differ from all the
other gazillion groups on LUGNET.  The input of kids such as yourself
appears to be largely
welcome on LUGNET, how would having a .kidlug group be useful to you, and to
the
LUGNET community in general, and kids using LUGNET?

Alex and Aaron, please accept this in the way it is intended, it was not all
that long ago that
I was a kid (my Wife would argue that I'm STILL a kid, and my 9 year old
daughter would
agree most of the time :-)  I understand, to an extent, what you are trying
to do, and I even
still remember how you feel about this project and the large quantities of
advice you are getting
from everyone around you (on LUGNET at least :-).  Our (my) intent is to
give you the advice
we ourselves could have used when we were your age, but, sadly, at the time
the internet was
the ARPAnet and kid participation was, in general, NOT wanted (though, I
have to say, I
got some GREAT advice from the ARPAnet community for a science project,
thanks to my
Dad's connections..., but I was 17 then...

We're trying to help in any way we see a possibility of help.

Thanks,
-Peter

P.S.  Did you notice the similarity in advice from Larry and Myself?

P.P.S.  The vision statement should be a standalone thing, all other things
flow from it, DON'T
get bogged down in ANYTHING else until you agree on the vision
statement or you will
thrash for a long, long time...  It sounds silly, and
non-productive, but believe me, it helps!

We feel that haveing a Kidlug newsgroup on Lugnet will encourage kids to become involved in Lugnet beyond us. They can come in throuhg this board, and then move on, generating new users for Lugnet. It also advertises for Kidlug, but that's a minor (...) (25 years ago, 14-Feb-00, to lugnet.org)
