Cool, now let's try a large message.

Power still out in New Brunswick
WebPosted Tue Dec 19 15:11:26 2000
FREDERICTON - Thousands of people in New Brunswick are still without power
after the province was lashed by a fierce windstorm earlier this week – and
another one is on its way.

The forecast calls for heavy rain and snow starting Tuesday night. The
province's emergency measures organization says shelters will be set up for
those whose power isn't restored today.

The Fredericton area was among the hardest hit, with more than 4,000 homes
and businesses still in the dark. Thousands of people in other parts of the
province are also going without power.

Hydro worker restores power

N.B. Power said it had every available crew on the road and has asked for
help from its counterparts in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

RECENT STORY: Maritimes left in dark after pounding by storm

In Nova Scotia, there were hundreds of scattered power outages, primarily in
the western part of the province. Crews from Cape Breton were called in to
help. The storm is expected to hit there Wednesday.

Elsewhere across the Maritimes the cleanup continues. The RCMP reopened a
stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway near the Nova Scotia-New Brunswick
boundary after two tractor-trailers were blown over by gale-force winds Monday.

Ferry service between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland has resumed after being
put on hold Monday. About 500 people trying to get to Port aux Basques,
Nfld. were stranded in North Sydney N.S. until Tuesday morning.
