This ROCKS. So you have the render engine running on a LINUX box?
Any idea on the bandwidth impact this puts on your site?

It's running on FreeBSD 3.2-RELEASE on a dual PII 333.
The bandwidth for the explorer is in the noise compared to the scans.
The CPU however could be a problem if several people render at once.
It won't be a problem unless it gets slashdotted or something.
(not likely since it's not related to Mindstorms and /. doesn't care
about brick geeks)

I Save all rendered images so if that view is hit again it comes back
instantly.  Otherwise it takes a few seconds to render.

Do you save the rendered images permanently, or just cache them while a single
user is there?

I'll have to go test this right now myself.
