My local country radio station (yes country) here in Saint Louis has a morning
radio personality named Cornbread, that is hosting an adopt a soldier or submit
a soldier to be adopted program. The service Member stays on the list until he
or she is adopted at lest 10 times. Most of the service members share what they
get with there buddies. The numbers of adopted solders is staggering, and the
number people, businesses, ect. adopting is even greater. I am posting this
because of a statement made by one of the parents of a service member. They said
that the troops like getting the sets that have hard plastic containers, they
can pack them around and when the hurry up and wait order comes they can pull
them out and then pack them back up when they have to move out. I have listened
to the letters from people sending out packages and from service members and
wondered what I, on a meager budget could do. Then I thought of the largest LEGO
community ever. Here is my plea. Those of you how know what it is like to be
overseas for an extended time, never mind over the holidays, know what it is
like. If you would go to: http://www.cornbreadshow.com/ and adopt a soldier.
If you know someone summit their name. This program has gone international with
people adopting from all over the US and other countries. You dont even have to
agree with the war; just support the men and women in uniform. By the way the
average age if the military is 19, just out of high school.
Thank You,
L. Andrew Reynolds
