d'oh!  I never even looked up convert for this task.  Seems kinda
anti-intuitive for this to be a conversion task.

I was using "mogrify -average" (and, failing that, "combine -blend"), which
describe having the average function in the docs but fails with the
"unrecognized function" when I try to use it.  Lemme try convert, 1 sec...
