My father has RR and loves it. He had two phone lines - one for the
computer/internet and the other for regular pnone service. With RR he has
eliminated the need for one of the phone lines. He is solely home based.
My family does not have RR and we do not plan to get it. We would love to
have the speed, especially my teeenage daughter, the expert in our home.
There are several reasons we will not get it. Our phone line has gone out
maybe 3 times in 17 years. I n the same 17 years, our cable service has
gone out at least once every couple of months, sometimes for days at a
time. TV is not a necessity in our home, the internet has become one - for
work, for school, and for keeping in touch with friends. Also, when my
husband travels he takes a laptop with him. He can dial in on a local
number where ever he is and use our regular server. We set aside hours for
his use and different hours for our use at home. We couldn't do this with
RR. RR from what I understand can only be used from the special line that
brings it in? This lack of mobility is a key factor for us.
IMHO whether RR is for you depends on your personal situation and the
reliability of your cable company.
