I found out that I wasn't working on the latest edition of
"town.pov", and this last sentence seems to have been a bit
too optimistic:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-- Log from running POV-Ray on the latest edition of "town.pov":
...............................................................................
.............................................// Name: town.dat
// Author: John VanZwieten
// Central Square
object { town00_dot_dat matrix <1,0,0,0,1,0,0,0,1,0,0,0> }
object { town01_dot_dat <----ERROR
town.pov:121523: error: Out of memory. Cannot allocate 256 bytes for transform.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can it really be true that POV-Ray needs more than 2.5 Gb
memory for rendering Datsville? Or should I set some
parameters to be able to run large programs (on Linux)?

| Datsvillains: I finally got around to use my HPFS partition for something useful. POV-Ray is currently chewing away with a 761 Mb block of memory containing the latest POV-Ray file of Datsville. Mem: 322772K av, 320344K used, 2428K free, 8780K shrd, (...) (25 years ago, 12-May-00, to lugnet.cad)
