Another way to go back to 1977:
Rent 'The Hobbit' animated special.
Was it Dec 25, 1977? I was sitting there in pajamas, hoping I would not be
put to bed before I would find out whatever a hobbit was, and then it
started and time stopped.
At the end I was trundled into bed, and the lingering memory was a lesson in
itself, something to be greatly hoped for, something strange and wonderful
to be seized off a book rack.
Later on today, I'm going to wait in a movie line with my best friend, a
friendship that was cemented in large part by those books, turned to
tattered covers thousands of miles from here.
