Yeah, Barbie is having a Mattel sponsored affair, jilting Ken out of all
those years hes been hoping shed be his alone. I guess she was not liking
him so much any more. That really is a GREAT message to deliver to kids,
hmm?
That is a big bad change, in my opinion.
Other than that, Barbies female proportions became a little less
Goddess-like in the last few years, her doe-like eyes shrank a bit and she
grew a belly button. Those things I can live with, and most Barbie fans
will agree.
Dumping Ken was not a great idea, in a world where it is all to common to
find moms leaving for a man with less viagra needs or family baggage. Kids
used to be able to retreat into that perfect family Barbie world.
Now they have to turn to the Family line with Midge.

Dude, if you think that, you need a reality check. You need to spend more
time playing Barbie with actual 7 year olds. You have no idea whats on their
mind. 7 year olds do not think like you suppose.
I think it is probably universal that Barbie dumps Ken more often than once
a day to date someone else. Sometimes Ken gets killed more than once a day.
(You bastards!) I have not yet seen any Barbies privileged to inhabit
perfect family world. These Barbies are as anxiety-filled as the nearest
adult, minus the self-control. Worse, 7 year olds know A LOT of stuff that
they probably should not and project it all on Barbie and Ken and Kelly.
Lucky for me, Lego is more popular than Barbie at my house. Dragons making
people into skeletons is a favorite. Even Brick Separator ranks high as a
character. (Weird, huh?)
Im not sure if the man-eating Lego dragon is a Barbie or a Ken role. More
observation is needed.

Erik, this post just about killed me, especially the bolded
part. I actually cant tell you how many times in a day that
Ken and Barbie both get mangled by dogs (something else that
doesnt happen to LEGO), are fully body-painted, end up face-
down in a pool,
Similarly, you wouldnt believe what minifigs get up to. Its
shocking.
