BTW, what's the scoop about Littleton and RPG?  I haven't heard any
links...

Several of the early news articles cited White Wolf's Vampire RPG as a cause,
because the two guys played it.   I'm too lazy right now to hunt down any
URL's and my sources all came hard copy, but I saw 3 articles that all either
outright blamed WW, or said it was a contributing factor.  White Wolf's
response was (paraphrasing a whole lot): What a tragedy.  No, it's not our
fault.  We are not responsible for the people who play our games.  D&D used to
be the bad guy, now it's Vampire.

2:Wow, I'm feeling caustic today.  I guess a large part of it is that I get • so
freakin' tired of how this stuff gets blown out of proportion.

I don't know that anything is being blown out of proportion.  Violence in
the US, specifically mass-shootings at schools, is awful.  But some people
seem intent on non-productive behavior, such as attempting to control
behavior via dress codes, or blaming the internet.

It is hideously awful.  But the thing got so much flipping media cover,
there's already been at least 1 copycat death.

And of course they're blaming the internet, or trenchcoats, or Vampire - that
way they don't have to deal with the real issue.  It's a fairly standard
coping tactic.

I'm going to stop now before I get started on the Evil that is mass media, and
become incoherent with rage.
