Part of the objection to this scheme stems from the (currently) prohibitive
expense of such launches, as well as the perceived potential for wide
scattering of radioactive waste in the event of a disastrous launch. Granted,
both of these problems could become less influential as technology advances,
but I think at the moment they keep such noble global disposal proposals on
the drawing board.
