eBay needs to
set some limits on auction descriptions. I think they should be • limited to
plain old text, plus pictures of the actual item (with perhaps a • single
graphic logo allowed).

Sounds like censorship.  Sellers should be allowed to design their • listings
anyway they want to (within the bounds of decency of course ;-). • Buyers can
cast their vote of acceptability by not bidding.

Someone else said...
That is true, in terms of not bidding if you don't like it, but Ebay is
a private firm (AFAIK), and they can impose whatever they want in terms
of you using their facility. If you don't like their limits, don't use
it. They do have that "I agree to all of these terms, click the box,
etc."  in their user agreements.

True.

And eBay does have an interest in the listings being useable by people.
If too many listings are unuseable, people will be less likely to use
eBay, also, if the useablility of the listing eliminates a bidder or
two, eBay may realize less revenue than they might otherwise.

Also, true.

Maybe they could put a little *annoying* gif next to the listing like *hot*,
*gallery*, etc.
