Re: Massive Layoffs At Lego (in Enfield, CT)

(...) Presumably you also want to see BL stores go out of business, by placing (URL) huge bogus orders> with them? Or was that just some weird personal vengeance because I don't agree with your views on gun ownership or something???? Please climb (...)   Re: Massive Layoffs At Lego (in Enfield, CT)

(...) The bottom line is that TLG is a business, and they are doing whatever they feel necessary to remain in business. Some bad business decisions? Perhaps, but to blame TLG for not having perfect market vision is a little harsh. TLG is an old (...) (18 years ago, 23-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: Massive Layoffs At Lego (in Enfield, CT)

(...) I'm sick to death of this equation of manufacturing in poor countries being eqivalent to slavery/evil/whatever. It is quite possible for a company to employ people at a good local income in a country where the cost of living is lower and still (...) (18 years ago, 23-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: Massive Layoffs At Lego (in Enfield, CT)

(...) The difference, of course, is that the facade of brand-purism would be torn down, and fans would finally have to determine whether they're purists because it's LEGO or because it's made in Enfield. There may be a legitimate issue of quality (...) (18 years ago, 23-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: Massive Layoffs At Lego (in Enfield, CT)

(...) I wouldn't call the comment stupid. I think it comes from a fan who feels let down and now questions his support of the company that made the decision that led to his disappontment. I feel let down too. I don't want to buy the Lego "brand" by (...) (18 years ago, 23-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: Massive Layoffs At Lego (in Enfield, CT)

That is rather cold, however I have often thought of that since it costs me between $5,000 - $10,000 a year just to keep up with the new sets. Being OCD Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder) I have to get two of everything that comes out. Then find the new (...) (18 years ago, 23-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

(...) Don't forget--he had to arrange for Vince Foster's "suicide," too. Dave! (18 years ago, 23-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: Massive Layoffs At Lego (in Enfield, CT)

No it was Sadam, why do you think he is on trial. Or maybe Kennedy, he killed that woman by driving into a vat of yellow hot melted plastic. That is what took him so long to report it. Had to get all the yellow off of himself while holding a bottle (...) (18 years ago, 23-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: Newdow in the News (again)

(...) Ding! I think I see the problem. It's a mistake to frame this as an issue of whether any person's rights are or are not compromised by the presence of a religious invocation on US currency. Instead, the issue should be identified as the (...) (18 years ago, 19-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: 2nd Joe Vig contest entry - How Joe learned to stop worrying and love the bomb

(...) I stopped purchasing Lego before 1978, and I *demand* to be able to submit a Joe Vig contest entry using my blank-faced and armless old minifigs. With a police hat, not the fancy brown male hair from 1979. I also see the need for an (...) (18 years ago, 19-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
