Hey all,

I'm confused as to the "debate" here.  This seems a perfect example of
community.  Two community members sponsored a contest to encourage building
and donated the prizes (including the first prize as a $50 set).  Another
community member was inspired by this to build a great MOC.  When it was
pointed out that this didn't comply to the rules, that member was gracious in
agreeing to the judges' decision.  Still another member donated an element to
make the entry compliant -- the true "community" solution.  This is all about
a gracious and friendly community.

Yes. There is a warm and embracing community here, or what's left of one, and it
acted the way we all have seen it act in the past, warmly, as you describe
above. The part you missed though, is that there is also a much less warm and
embracing community here too.

If these terms confuse you, take a good look at
http://www.lugnet.com/people/members/?m=1285 and decide if what is written there
is sincere, or mocking. (and think about what it says about the LEGO ambassador
program that they'd not notice that in their selection process)

Then look at http://news.lugnet.com/build/vignette/?n=778 and decide if that
entry is made sincerely or to try to stir up controversy.

Then if you still have any doubt, look at http://www.lugnet.com/~1285/CTOPs and
try to count who was mocked how many times... Just for giggles, see
http://news.lugnet.com/loc/au/?n=13881 and think about the name choice of the
ship.

There's plenty more where that came from, you just have to keep your eyes open.

Hope that helps.

(...) It's a joke, Larry. Or am I the only one that thinks this whole 'discussion' is hilariously absurd? Allister (18 years ago, 13-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
