UK public perception is very much anti-death penalty, due to
mistakes, where the wrong person was hanged, and one particular
instance when the punishment was too harsh.
There is no recourse. Can you, hand on your heart, be
absolutely certain, that *everyone* put to death since 1972?
was the correct one? There are always examples of guilty
people being set free due to legal technicalities, can you
be absolutely certain that technicalities, or legal
manipulations, (or political agendas), have not resulted in
someone innocent being put to death? The US legal system is
very good, very fair, but is it totally immune to mistake?
