This smacks of this new age crap I hear about how morals are relative
and everyone is entitled to their own morals, no matter how warped,
and nobody else should condemn them.
That's bullshit.
Lemme give you an example of how you determine what morals are right
or wrong.
My moral code says what's yours is yours and what's mine is mine, and
neither of us has any right to the other's stuff. That's right -
period.
A moral code that says that under ANY circumstances you or anyone else
has the "right" to take my stuff from my is wrong - period.
It's black and white. Right and wrong. Up and down. PC/Mac. You
name it, it fits.
You can paint this in some exaggerated way as mean people versus kind
people but that doesn't wash.

The majority of the people I know who are not successful are, in fact,
lazy.

Semantics. So a pedophile who rapes young boys cannot be told that
his morals are wrong? Or a thief who steals? Not comparing you to
those kind of people, but surely you see that there ARE standards by
which everything can be judged?

I doubt Larry has ever been GIVEN anything. I know I haven't been
since I started working, which was when I was 12. I've made my
opportunities. I'm going to be offered a job next week that will
probably pay a lot more than they one I have now - that isn't an
opportunity that will be handed to me, it's one I've busted my ass to
make happen. I've done that by sleeping 3-4 hours a night, staying
after work, and basically proving I have a strong desire to learn and
get the job done.
Lots of people do that. Lots more don't. Those people don't succeed,
and in a very fair comparison to those who do, they are lazy. I know
someone who puts in his 8 hours a day in my department, does as little
as possible, and never helps out after hours. Sounds like you'd say
if I get a promotion and he doesn't than he just didn't have the same
opportunities as me.

He refuses to pay taxes (for whatever reason).
They say pay up or go to jail.
He says "go to hell".
They come to his house with guns to take him away.
He refuses to go, possibly (probably) choosing to defend himself and
his own with his own guns.
Having bigger guns, they kill him.
Yeah, that's extreme. Yeah, it won't happen because he wouldn't let
it advance that far. But the reality is, if you decide you won't pay
taxes, and you stick to that, you will either be killed or be thrown
in a hole in the ground.
Don't believe me? Try it.

What's a guarantee? Is anything in life guaranteed? Life is what you
make of it.
