First of all, I can't say that my collection is very big, but yet I still
manage to build some pretty neat stuff IMHO. Look at Mladen now for
instance, his collection isn't very big either and he has stated that
before, but he is IMO one of the best space/mecha builders on LUGNET! My
friend who does not use LUGNET, has a collection that comprises of one small
rubbermade container, but his creations are really cool nonetheless. You
just have to make do with what you have instead of grumbling about what you
don't. Now go get building Jesse!

If you really don't want to build with what you have and mlcad and ldraw are
screwing up, then try this program...http://www.leocad.org/

It's not as good as mlcad, but it works, it's easy to download, and even
easier to use. There's even a tutorial on the site. A possible reason that
you're computer may not be working may be because you have ran out of
diskspace. If this is the case, I want you to open up Windows explorer,
delete some useless files and downlaod a CAD program. If you were really
intent on showing us some of your work, you would have done this already, if
you need more technical help, e-mail me and I'll walk you through how to fix
the problems. If you're having difficulty in any way, I want you to e-mail
me or post to LUGNET and ask for help...There is no hiding now Jesse! So
either get building or start downloading... This post gives you no room for
lamo excuses! I'm willing to help you in anyway I can to get pictures of
your creations online! Now let's see some of your work!

I know that some people, namely Trevor, have been awaiting some models of my
space craft and LEGO Space themed vehicles.  I am sorry, Trevor, but unless
some person in Lugnet Space can help me not only use this program known as
LDraw and to help me understand why my computer will not download some
programs such as MLCad, I can probably never build any models on Lugnet.  I
really want to build good space craft but unless I find a person with a much
larger collection of LEGO pieces or have the LDraw and other related
programs work on my computer and for me to learn how to use these programs,
that will never happen on Lugnet Space.  This problem is beyond my control
and I am sorry, Lugnet.

Jesse Long

I can not simply e-mail the creations to you because I do not know how nor
am I certain if I contain the knowledge or the tools to download the
pictures to you, Geordan.

First of all you wouldn't download them to me, you'd zip and email them to
me so I could upload them for you to brickshelf.

I'm assuming that you're using windows correct? I'm also assuming that your
home computer has internet access, right? Do you have a digital camera or a
normal camera? or will you be sending me the pictures in CAD format?

I also am not sure how to access Microsoft Internet Explorer nor am I even
sure if Microsoft Internet Explorer still exists on my computer.

Well if you know what a hard drive is, and how to install computer games
then you definitely know where ms explorer is and how to run it. I think you
know enough, please don't play dumb on me. I'm am not willing to help you if
you're not going to co-operate. downloading a CAD program is as easy a
downloading or installing one of you're computer games. And you don't have
to know any computer languages to download any of this! I know you are
capable of all of loading and sending these pictures to me Jesse, no more
excuses please!

BTW, how are you using LUGNET if you don't know how to run a basic browser
like ms explorer? And no Jesse I'm not agains't you, I just need you to stop
playing dumb and co-operate with me. If you don't feel comfortable showing
us your creations that's fine, just tell us that you don't feel comfortable
showing us your creations but don't back it with another excuse of yours.
You don't have to worry about your creations being judged or living up to
your ego, that doesn't really matter to me or hopefully to anyone else. If
you have talked boastfully about your crations or said things that were
misleading about yourself, admit it and show us your creations anyway. Who
cares about a stinkin' ego anyway. So on behalf of everyone in .space, we
welcome your creations with open arms regardless of how well built they are
or how cool they are.

The reason
that I am not sure why Microsoft Internet Explorer exists on my computer is
not related to Lugnet or to The LEGO Company in any way but all I can say is
watch out for those compact discs that have many video games on there
because they can and will destroy your hard drive.  I am sorry that this
irritates you but I am equally irritated that I do not know much about
computer languages or loading MLCad.

Jesse Long

I do have Microsoft Windows 98 but I do not have a digital camera but I do
know of some family members that do have a digital camera so that is not as
large of a problem as you would have imagined, I just would have to travel
about ten or fifteen miles away from town in order to scan the pictures to
you and before that, I would have to pay around four dollars to have
Wal-Mart develop the pictures from my last series of LEGO creations.

If they have a digital camera, then they would most likely know how the
software for it works and be able to either upload to brickshelf directly
from their pc, or zip them and e-mail them to me so I can upload them for you.

The problem is, although hard to believe, is that I have never used a
digital camera before or a scanner.  I am honestly telling the truth,
Geordan.  This is not a lie from me, Geordan.

Oh I believe you on that, Jesse I'm not trying to accuse you for everything!
I'm actually a pretty nice guy...

I have downloaded the programs that I need but they will not work in their
entirety for some reason.  I do not know why they will not work but I have
tried to open the programs and they will not open for me and I am wondering
this, do I have an incompatiable system with these files or are the files
not working or am I simply out of computer space?

I have absolutely no idea...

The ability to learn all of this LDraw and other programs may be second
nature to you but you must remember, I am new to this type of system and I
have never built any project out of CAD or any system ever in my life.

I have only been using a CAD program seriously for about two weeks and only
because I am starting up a custom lego kit business

I HAVE, however, taken the liberty to use a normal (well, actually, a
disposeable) camera for my LEGO creation but if my mother will take me to
Wal-Mart when we have the money, I can develop my ideas to you but if they
resemble vehicles that were a hybrid of "Yellow Submarine," Mad Max, and The
Partridge Family, blame the measly collection that I have at my house.

I'm sre that they loo cool regardless

I am not completely helpless or dumb but I am quite lacking in some of the
materials that I need for LDraw and other programs on my computer.

Woaaah, I never said that you were helpless or dumb, I said it seemed liked
you were playing dumb, but I apologize because I was wrong. I actually think
you're pretty cool. I am really sorry that it sounded like that.
