I honestly thought it was the other way around! During the last
months, everything done by the LEGO Company has been bashed on LUGNET.
The Guarded Inn and the Sopwith Camel are probably the exceptions.
Should someone take the other view and talk nicely of something done
by LEGO, they are being accused of being a "follower of all that LEGO
does". Ok, so I painting this very black and white, but there is
still a bit of truth in it. It's probably been hard represeting LEGO
on LUGNET during the latest months.
There's also the mentality here that spawns conflicts. Everytime
there is a small seed of heated discussion, a lot of people jump in to
"ride the conflict" into a huge flame war. By taking part in the
discussion and offering opinions on who have done wrong and what not,
people are escalating the conflict more and more. It happens all the
time. It happened with the Jonathan Wilson thing in the CAD groups,
which I must regrettably admit to have been a part of myself. It also
happened with the troll, and with the Mladen Pejic thing in the mecha
group. People simply like to take part in a heated conflict from time
to time, it seems like. It happens in virtually all discussion
groups, even LUGNET. The only way to avoid the flame wars happening
is to ignore them.
