Yup, all the electric clocks in my house were blinking when I got home. At
least where I work has been declared a "critical installation" and isn't
subject to blackouts - allegedly, since I'm at a slightly offsite facility
and we are all wondering if we'll get overlooked.
Simply put, we're doomed until someone decides to actually build more power
plants, which will take a long while anyway. Thank you, Pete Wilson, for
your foresight (not to take away from your accurate assessment of Gray
Davis, whose solution is to run around like the proverbial decapitated chicken).
And of course, Dubya to California: "You didn't vote for me, drop dead!" At
least all the moronic businessmen who shoveled money into the coffers of two
Texas oilmen are finding out where those two's loyalty lies (I'd laugh
harder, but I'm stuck on the same sinking ship).
On the bright side - the death of gas-guzzling SUVs is just around the
corner. :-)

| For the second time I have now been victim of California's rolling blackouts. The first experience was a few months ago at home, and now today 5/8/01 here at work. For those of you not experiencing this wonderful phenomenon, it really sucks! This is (...) (24 years ago, 8-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
