Someone once asked me to find the info which I had on Lego clones...from
Readers Digest, dated Aug 1989 (Canadian English Ed)
"Though the original Lego brick was based on a British prototype, the company
bristles at imitators. A South Korean firm has come out with Coko and
Cokoland, which strongly resembles the Lego castle set, India produces Automech
and Billund takes umbrage at Sovjetisk imitation af Lego Elementer (Soviet
imitation of Lego components)(1). Grudging admiration, however must go to the
chinese innovator whose packaged clone features not a name but a number: 0937.
Stood on its head, its the winning combination"
(1) As noted, I have seen this, and it wasn't all that bad...I think it was
amongst the better of the clones...but I don't think it is available widely :)
