After years of foot-dragging and unresponsiveness, the admins of the Hyperboards
server have summarily announced that Hyperboards is permanently shutting down on
December 1, and all data will lost.
The only surprise is that they gave us any warning at all. It would have been
much more consistent with their style simply to pull the plug without telling
anyone.
It's a pain in the butt for The Bloks Forum, which hosts a ton of detailed
information about Mega Bloks available literally nowhere else online. However,
I have all of that information backed up in databases, so I can simply rebuild.
Other forum members will be hosed, though, because some of them have a long
history sharing MOCs and the like.
Other non-blok forums are even harder hit. I'm aware that some of them have
thousands upon thousands of posts that will simply vanish, thanks to the
lackadaisical style of the Hyperboards admins.
The only good news I can offer, such as it is, is that The Bloks Forum will
return in a new incarnation on Monday, November 27, at about 08:00 Eastern.
I'll post again at that time to confirm.
