Knex continues their major effort to become a big player in the public domain
lego system brick market.  They have released their first large general
construction brick tub, consisting of 820 elements, 695 of which are Knex
bricks, including 3 types new to the Knex brick series.  A standard 1x2 brick, a
2x3 technic brick (Knex technic is a brick or plate with hollow tubes in the
body of the brick, which emerge in the top of the brick and allow the placement
of technic style pins) and a kind of 2 function plate never before seen in
bricks.  The new plate is a non technic 2x4 with 8 studs that rise to 2 ldu
short of the height of a system brick.  These new bricks can stack, in which
case a display of pillars is showcased, or they can be used like ordinary
plates, as the tall studs fit completely inside an ordinary brick.  Knex is also
in the process of retrofitting earlier build boxes.  The Gear action set, a
previously all Knex set that showcases gears, bushings, and driveshaft elements,
now has an additional 90 bricks and brick adapters in the case, with 5 builds
added to this 20 build set incorporating bricks with standard Knex elements.
