This is my last model: CAT 320 B

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=49867

This machine, equiped by RCX, as usual on my model (but external this time !),
has three motors to control valves, tower and trucked traction, two touch
sensors to control boom valves and one touch to control tower

The valves are controlled by a single motor. Control system is based on a
synchronized mechanical gearing

A touch sensor positioned under the tower, allows to control rotation each 90°

Traction is equiped by an adder-subtractr systems. I’m afraid but with one
single motor it’s possible to control fwd-rev motion or left-right motion only,
but…. simply moving from left to right a double bevel gear it’s possible to
change configuration

Actually the excavator is programmed to a stand-by action  including a large use
of traction (only fwd-rev) and various actions of boom. When the blue truck
arrived, CAT start an active action loading the truck. After 2-3 loops CAT
re-start a stand-by action and blue-truck going to download.
All this actions are based on rcx messaging of course

Air for pneumatic circuit is provided by my usual Atlas unit

(...) YEEEEEEEEOWWWW! My jaw is still on on the floor from seeing your model! I have never seen a lego model that is so close to the real thing! I bet Caterpillar would love to see that model! Chris Pritchard (21 years ago, 24-Jul-03, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.modelteam, lugnet.robotics)
