There is an article titled "The Smallest Big Guys" in the January 27th
edition of Newsweek. I was checking mediawatch because I saw this and the
article on LEGO wins case in China this week. The Newsweek article has pics
of Shaq and Iverson side-by-side high fiving. The caption reads "Toys among
men: The LEGO version of Shaq and the cornrowed Iverson.
The article suggests that "the little hoopsters could have particular appeal
among African-Americans". It doesn't mention the appeal of the spring hinged
thighs to AFOL's, or that some of our LUGNET members are putting asside
their Sony playstations and challenging each other to LEGONEONONE on the
LUGcourt.
The article mentions, "Up to now, all LEGO people have been bright yellow."
... "Lego's designers seem to have relied on hairstyles and whiskers to
distinguish the players. Allen Iverson sports cornrows, while Predrag
Stojankovic features a mustache and some funky-looking stubble. As for Shaq
well, even when he's reduced to the size of a midget's thumb, there's
something about the guy that says, 'Get out of my way'."
