My wife Paige is a high school teacher for Chesterfield County (suburban
Richmond), Virginia. Last week, as part of Teacher Prep Week, she attended
a meeting for a new program being promoted by the county called Building
Blocks for Student Success.
The booklet that was handed out for the program was put together by
Chesterfield County Public Schools (even though theres no clear credit
given for individuals who actually designed the book and its pages). To
illustrate the building blocks concept the booklet has several pictures of
LEGO® bricks and elements.
In particular, there are a couple of pictures of the Bob the Builder DUPLO
figure pushing around some bricks in a wheelbarrow. There are also a couple
of pictures that include the figures and elements from the Creator buckets.
There are a total of 5 different black and white photos of LEGO elements
used in the 28 page booklet along with some cropped sections from those same
pictures scattered throughout. None of them are very exciting.
The first thing I looked for was to see if they had permission from LEGO to
use these pictures. According to the credits they did and they also had all
the proper verbiage about trademarks, etc.
Paige said that the program mainly consisted of going around and getting
teachers and principals to share secrets to success and then putting them
into a video and a booklet. The pictures of the LEGO were about the most
exciting thing about the session for her and shes not even an AFOL!
