Re: Bricklink Admin Bill Swanberg arrested for Lego thefts

I have not met or traded with Bill before. Still, this news shocked me, as if suddenly I discovered that one of my close friends were a criminal. It's sad, sad, sad. Stealing is wrong. Stealing for profit is very wrong. Still, he could have commit (...) (19 years ago, 22-Nov-05, to lugnet.mediawatch, lugnet.general, lugnet.people, lugnet.market.brickshops)

  Google Earth and Legoland

I'm not sure this is really "media watch", it's more like "multimedia watch", but I can't keep this to myself: Google Earth has chosen to include extra high resolution satellite photos of relatively small areas around each of the Legoland parks in (...)   Re: Bricklink Admin Bill Swanberg arrested for Lego thefts

(...) Most cashiers working in huge toy stores simply don't care. Pick the one that looks most inexperienced, tired, or both, and you can probably get away with the most amazingly simple scams, provided you don't do it too often. That, I think, was (...)   Re: Bricklink Admin Bill Swanberg arrested for Lego thefts

(...) Actually, it's one of the oldest scams in the book; that's why those automatic tellers at Home Depot, etc, have the weight system setup. I'm surprised it worked so well, I guess the cashier's display just said "ITEM LEGO TOY" or something like (...) (19 years ago, 20-Nov-05, to lugnet.mediawatch)

Re: Bricklink Admin Bill Swanberg arrested for Lego thefts

(...) No, he was an Admin up to the point Dan got wind of this. He was not only demoted but kicked off the site 100%. I can see Bill doing this no problem. His ego and attitude led him to think he was better and smarter than everybody... guess the (...) (19 years ago, 19-Nov-05, to lugnet.mediawatch, FTX)

(...) That's so simple I'm surprised I never thought of it, not that I'd ever commit a crime of course. Steve (19 years ago, 19-Nov-05, to lugnet.mediawatch)

Re: Bricklink Admin Bill Swanberg arrested for Lego thefts

(...) I never did like that guy, but I never would have guessed this. He'd better be able to make up a much more violent or daring crime to tell his cellmates. I can just imagine what his prison life would be like: Cellmate Bubba: "Hey you! Yeah (...) (19 years ago, 19-Nov-05, to lugnet.mediawatch)

Re: Bricklink Admin Bill Swanberg arrested for Lego thefts

(...) How pathetic. They say innocent until proven guilty but it sounds like they got him dead to rights. I hope this doesn't end up giving all AFOL's a bad name! (19 years ago, 19-Nov-05, to lugnet.mediawatch)
