THQ Acquires GBA LEGO® License
THQ announced today that it has signed an agreement with LEGO® which grants
THQ the worldwide rights to develop and publish titles based on the LEGO
universe, including Drome Racers and Bionicle?. Drome Racers will be the
first game under the multi-title exclusive publishing deal and is scheduled
to ship this May.
"LEGO is a top-selling children's toy brand with wide-ranging franchises
that lend themselves to great Game Boy Advance content, " stated Alison
Locke, executive vice president, North American publishing. "We are
extremely excited to be publishing LEGO titles for the Game Boy Advance system."
"As the top third-party Game Boy Advance publisher, THQ is the ideal
publisher for our LEGO properties," stated Sean Ratcliffe, Global Brand
Director for LEGO Interactive. "Their proven leadership gives us confidence
this will become a long-standing publishing relationship."
Drome Racers for the GBA offers four play modes, them being Quick Race,
Arcade, Championship and Multi-Challenge. There are six futuristic locations
in the game, ranging from cities to mountain and canyon environments. Up to
four players can participate in a race via the GBA Link Cable. Earning
credits in each race will allow players to upgrade engines, tires, turbo
chargers, aerodynamics and more.
We should have more info on the game once its release approaches next month.
