Chris,
I accept payment from both x.com and paypal.com for sales from my store
site.
This is not automated as you suggest, and I don't even send a request for
payment from either of the sites. What I do is have the orders submitted
through e-mail, then I pull the parts, invoice them, and adjust the
inventory on the store site.
Buyers are given the choice to pay by X, Paypal, Money Order, Bank Check, or
Cash. How they choose to pay is up to them.
So far I have received several payments through both X and PayPal for both
eBay auction winnings and sales from my store site.
