Ok...It really isn't a find of the week, but while shopping all the K-Marts
in Houston, I ran across two really interesting items. One was a 5918
Scorpion Tracker for $.25. Not the greatest of sets, but at 93.75% off, a
really good deal.

After buying it, I wanted to come home and start a thread on the greatest
retail discount for a non-damaged, unopened set (it had very little shelf
wear). I was curious if this purchase was indeed the biggest discount yet.
It was for me, even out-weighing a number of sets bought at a 90%,
Going-Out-Of-Business sale at K-Mart. But, forgetful me, I forgot :)

Today, after hitting 3 more K-Marts, I wasn't likely to forget. I found a
5958 Mummy's Tomb for $.15. Yes, that is not a typo. This set too was
unopened and non-damaged. By my calculation, that is a discount of 99.5%.
The cashier and myself were dumbfounded and I honestly believe it was a
mistake (maybe it should have gone in the computer as $15). But she took my
$.16 and bid me a good day.

Unlike most sets, the scanner only called both sets "Lego's", rather than by
a descriptive name. Cool, huh?

Any other good discount stories?

PS - In case you were wondering, I was scouring K-Marts for cheap Ninja
sets, mainly $1 Ninja Knights and $3 Shanghai Surprises. I actually found
about 20 of each in all of Houston's K-Marts and I am quite happy :)

I got <set:3038 Spider Slayer> for $19.98 (Canada, about $14 US) but it was opened. Oh well, seems like all of the parts were there. The fact that the motor hadn't been stolen seems like a big hint that nothing was. It's a pretty good cheap (...) (24 years ago, 30-Dec-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

(...) Ha! I have the greatest discount story of all :-)! I was shopping at TRU two years ago, looking for some Outback sets. Hidden behind some other small sets, I found an 6538 Rebel Roadster. It is a set from 1994, so I was happy when I found it (...) (24 years ago, 30-Dec-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

I haven't got the best, but since the conversation came up - I just pick up a Robotics Discovery set for $70 CDN (taxes incl). Not bad considering that it retails for $250 inc taxes...
