[.general snipped, in deference to recently-expressed opinions about
its over-use]

I'm sure they don't. Especially those "regular moms", who seem to be
doing as superb a job for their other phone customers as they have for
me, and who are probably not accustomed (in most cases) to the net's
way of handling problems. I hope you took a moment to explain that
it's not about them.
At the same time, somebody in Enfield, who *should* be accustomed to
net.culture, *does* deserve a good flaming: their
bandwidth-squandering site design is "rude" to the entire net, and a
bit of "nastiness" for those of us using dial-up connections.
They're certainly not the only offenders, and far from the worst
ones. But, in an organization that consistently does such a good job
of looking after the needs of both its customers and the community
(even, e.g., to the point of molding the composition info into
plastic packing inserts so they can be recycled), the website team
sticks out like a sore thumb.

webmaster to have a connection faster than an ISDN line)
