Wow. What a week!
After negotiating my discount mass-buy of Wal-Mart merchandise, I
decided to hit another Wal-Mart to see if anything good was around
there. Well, I found a few real goodies: A couple of 6434 Roadside
Repairs, a 6432 Speedway Transport, and 6198 Stingray Stormer. Sure,
the former two are "juniorised" heavily, but at $4 apiece for 6434 (!!)
and $5 for the 6432, who was I to say "no"? The 6198, which just last
week had been $69.97, was marked down to $20. This was kind of annoying
given that I'd offered to buy all three they had for $75 just last week,
but oh well--at least I got *one* of them, which had been placed in the
wrong area of the section and thus was missed by the bargain-hunters.
It looks like now is the time that Wal-Mart begins to cycle its last
clearance at the store level, so if you have any well-stocked ones
nearby, find that assistant manager with pricing authority and start
haggling! It's saved me at least $600 already on sets that were already
40% or more off retail.
Oh yeah, and when you find those great deals, sell me a few. ;)

| Any idea what week # was on the sticker on the shelf near these sets? (If there was one at all?) I'm trying to figure out what rhyme or reason there is to when something gets marked down. I hit a few Wal-Marts this afternoon and the prices here have (...) (25 years ago, 9-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

| (...) WM is at it here in Houston too - the formerly $50.00 5978 Sphinx's Secret Surprise sets from the adventurers series are $9.00 each! The 6434 Roadside Repairs, 6432 Speedway Transports and 6424 Rig Racers are still $20.00, $9.00 and $9.00 but (...) (25 years ago, 9-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)
