We often take for granted that everyone is aware of the process for accessing
the LEGO Shop @ Home Specials. Today I got an e-mail from a LUGNET user that
indicated they often read the S@H listing, but had no idea how to place an
order.  I have over looked to fact that there are new users logging onto LUGNET
that may not have other AFOL or clubs that can pass on knowledge that we
sometimes take for granted.

The phone specials are a unique opportunity available to customers of LEGO
here in the U.S. On Wednesday morning the phone specials are listed on a
phone recording based in Enfield, CT., the U.S corporate headquarters of the
LEGO Group, Inc.   The inventory consists of items that the employees have
identified as excess or in short supply.  Many of the items are also listed
as 50% of on the www.LEGO.com site, but the phone special prices are usually
lower.  Some items may show up as a phone special only to return to the
inventory later based on items inventory of the same items located at a later
time. For the most part, if the price of an item is attractive enough at the
time, don’t wait.  Some items can sell out in a matter of minutes especially
if the item is popular.

Anyone in the U. S.  can access the recording by phoning LEGO on the listed
number (800-835-4386) and pressing option #4.  If you are interested in placing
an order, then press #1 to reach the operator. Please phone the number during
normal business hours, if possible. If you phone after hours you are likely to
get the overseas call center.  The call center’s staff works off of a script and
do not have the ability to go beyond what’s in writing.

Dealing directly with the LEGO employees in Enfield allows more flexibility,
including combing shipping with exiting LEGO orders, or waiving the shipping
fees if there is another order.  LEGO employees can also check the inventory to
determine the availability of the requested items.
