Picked this up today at the Lego Store.  One thousand piece Tub - new tub design
BTW - different from the old blue tubs - wider lip, "studs' on lid - much like
the redesigned square buckets.  Price - $19.95

Of note - atypical colors in unusual sizes.

Bricks:

Light Blue - 12 1x1,  16 1x2, 4 1x4, 18 2x2, 4 2x3, 6 2x4

Chartreuse Green - 16 1x2, 4 1x4, 18 2x2, 4 2x3, 6 2x4

blue clear - 4 1x2, 2 2x2 slope

red clear - 4 1x2, 2 2x2

more common Orange but wider size selection:

12 1x1, 16 1x2, 2 1x4, 18 2x2, 6 2x4, 4 2x3, 4ea 1x2 slopes fwd&rev

2 2x3 plate, 2 2x4 plate

along with a wider selecton of green , some old? light gray,
red, blue snd even white slopes fwd and rev - both angles AND 2 each 2x2 and 2x4
red 45 degree roof peak pieces

blue and red also have larger 2x bricks

all-in-all, a rather "diverse" selection of pieces.

I wonder if someone is appying some type of modeling to optimize disposal of
"excess" or overproduced pieces and then having modelers come up with things to
make out of the selection.  It's easy enough to print a run of labels and load
up the packaging equipment for such production runs.

If needed to make "buildable" models, specific pieces could be produced and
added to the mix though the use of mis-matched color "eye" pieces seems to make
even that minimal extra effort unlikely. After looking through the instructions,
this sure seems to be the case.  Nothing really unique or exciting here.

Frankly, this would make sense and would fit the varied offerings of late.   I really can't picture there having been an outcry for chartreuse green pieces and their use in the examples seems a bit "forced"  NONE of the instruction breakdowns actually seem to use the light blue bricks - they only appear in "built example" photos.

In fact, the booklet included actually cites TWO part numbers - 4496/97 under
the "generic" CREATOR label.  And even though the bin label has a 2004 date, the
insert is a "NEW 2003" piece. Makes me think even more that this is just a
"clean out old inventory" effort.

(...) $19.95? The Toy Fair showroom book lists it at $9.99. I knew the prices were all screwed up this year (SW Minis for $19.99 each, Coast Watch HQ for $4.99?!?!?), but I thought maybe, just maybe, this one was correct, since it appeared to be (...)
