I am fascinated by what people have managed to get in their pick-a-brick cups so
here is a report of the last two cups I purchased on 29FEB04. Both are the large
cups.
Cup One
156 red slope 45 2x2 double convex part#3045
34 red slope 45 2x4 double part#3041
55 red slope 33 3x2 part#3298 (or is it 30474)
70 red slope 45 2x1 double part#3044
4 red slope 33 3x4 part#3297
1 red slope 33 1x3 part#4286
2 red slope 45 1x2 part#3040
1 red 2x2 brick part#3003
1 red 1x4 brick part#3010
1 red plant, flower 2x2 rounded part#4728 *
(* that flower will teach me to look at each handful before I add it to the
cup).
325 total = ~$0.04 per piece.
Cup Two
22 white fence 1x6x2 part#30077
70 black fence 1x4x2 part#3185
11 green plant, tree pine small 2x2x4 part#2435
42 black plate 2x4 part#3020
145 total = ~$0.09 per piece
BrickLink Analysis
If I were to have purchased the second cup from BrickLink at the average listed
price (new) for each part I would have paid $40.97. If I paid the minimum price
currently available for each part, I would have paid $19.67. Clearly, the
pick-a-brick per cup of 12.95 is the best deal going.
An analysis of the first cup revealed a little bit better outcome for me. The
total paid for New brick at the current average price would have been $71.24 and
for the lowest price would have been $23.88.
Of course, gas to drive from Atlanta to Orlando cost $63.89.
But the experience... PRICELESS!
